Darlington County HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

In June 2011, we dedicated 4 homes bringing our total to 26 homes and we currently have 3 more under construction. We strive to build an equal number of homes in both Hartsville and Darlington, SC.

Our ReStore in Hartsville is open 6 days a week and provides a major source of funding for our building program.

Construction Update

Our newest home in Darlington will be dedicated September 12th.

The next Sunday, we will dedicate house #18 in Hartsville. We have several homeowners who are working steadly on their "Sweat Equity" in order to own thir first home. We also have houses 18, 20 and 21 underway.

House #19 is ready. The homeowner is renting until she completes your sweat equity. She expect to have the hours completed in September.

Habitat has seven more homes under construction in Hartsville; 2 on Hampton that we hope to complete in October. Two on Myrtle Street, and 3 on Heatley Street.

Our thanks to WoodsWork for making a major impact on the building program. They were responsible for helping on 5 homes in June.

Volunteers are also needed in our ReStore.
