Darlington County HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

In December 2009 we dedicated our 16th home and currently have 5 more under construction. We strive to build an equal number of homes in both Hartsville and Darlington, SC.

Our ReStore in Hartsville is open 6 days a week and provides a major source of funding for our building program.

Golf Tournament

Construction Update

Our newest home in Darlington was dedicated in December. Construction on #17 next door is getting close. We have several homeowners who are working steadly on their "Sweat Equity" in order to own thir first home. We also have houses 18, 20 and 21 underway. House #19 is ready. We are just needing the owner to complete her sweat equity. Plans are to have two of the homes completed by April so owners will be able to take advantage of the First Time Homeowner Tax Credit.

Volunteers are also needed in our ReStore.
